Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered 126 rustled livestock and arrested suspects during separate intelligence-led operations in Bakori and Batsari Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
The operations, conducted as part of ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry efforts, were carried out in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
According to military sources, troops acting on credible intelligence about the movement of suspected terrorists with rustled livestock laid an ambush at a known crossing point in Yankwani village, Bakori LGA.
On sighting the troops, the suspected terrorists abandoned the animals and fled into the surrounding bush.
A follow-up sweep of the area led to the recovery of 126 livestock, comprising 83 cows and 43 sheep.
The recovered animals were formally handed over to the Chairman of the Peace Keeping Committee in Bakori, Alhaji Tijjani Mohammed, for identification and return to their rightful owners.
In a separate operation, troops joined personnel of the NDLEA, Katsina State Command, to conduct targeted raids in Wagin, Tundu Mobi and Chadawaki communities in Batsari Local Government Area.
The joint operation resulted in the arrest of several suspects and the seizure of exhibits.
Security operatives also recovered a locally fabricated firearm loaded with five cartridges from one of the suspects.
All arrested suspects and recovered exhibits have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary legal action.
The operations underscore the sustained efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA and partner security agencies to combat terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities across the North-West region while enhancing the safety and security of affected communities.
