NAF Trains 200 Youths, Personnel in Digital, Technical Skills for Future Jobs

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the 115 Special Operations Group (115 SOG), Port Harcourt, has graduated 200 participants from its Skills Development Training Programme aimed at equipping youths and personnel with future-ready vocational, technical, and digital skills.

The graduation ceremony, held on May 8, 2026, at the Air Force Secondary School in Port Harcourt, marked the completion of intensive training conducted in partnership with SkillUp Naija and Globalcraft Technology Development.

The programme empowered participants with practical skills in heavy equipment operation, ICT and digital technology, renewable energy solutions, health and safety management, fashion design, and catering services.

Beneficiaries included Nigerian Air Force personnel, their dependants, youths within the NAF community, and students, reflecting the growing impact of the initiative on both military families and the wider society.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Commander of 115 SOG, Group Captain AA Opaleye, said the initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to personnel welfare through human capacity development and empowerment programmes.

According to him, the training was designed to create opportunities for self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and productive engagement among participants while supporting national development objectives.

He noted that beyond improving employability, the programme also strengthens technical support capability, ICT awareness, and operational efficiency within the Nigerian Air Force, particularly in operational environments where technical expertise is critical to mission success.

The initiative is also expected to contribute to youth empowerment, socio-economic stability in the Niger Delta region, and stronger civil-military relations through sustained community partnership.
