NAF, Ground Troops Crush Terror Threat in Borno, Over 30 Insurgents Neutralised in Dar Jamel Joint Operation

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and ground troops of Operation Hadin Kai have dealt a major blow to insurgents, neutralising over 30 terrorists during a joint counterterrorism operation in Dar Jamel village, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

The operation, which took place on September 5, 2025, was launched after reports indicated heavy terrorist engagement against friendly forces in the area. Acting on the alert, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai swiftly deployed an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft alongside Air Interdiction (AI) missions to support troops on the ground.

Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, confirmed the development in a statement released on Saturday.

According to Ejodame, the aircrew established contact with ground forces stationed in Banki, who confirmed that reinforcements were en route to assist embattled troops. Upon arriving at the scene, NAF aircraft identified friendly positions before ISR scans picked up terrorists fleeing northwards into nearby bushes.

“In a series of three precise and successive air strikes, the fleeing terrorists were decisively engaged, leading to the neutralisation of over 30 insurgents,” Ejodame stated.

He added that shortly after the bombardment, reinforcement troops secured the area and restored stability, preventing any further insurgent activity.

The coordinated action, Ejodame said, demonstrated the synergy between the air and ground forces, highlighting the effectiveness of joint operations in combating terrorism.

“This success reinforces the Nigerian Armed Forces’ commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, protecting vulnerable communities, and restoring peace in the North-East and other troubled regions of the country,” he said.

The Nigerian Air Force, working closely with the Army, Navy, and other security agencies, also assured Nigerians of its continuous resolve to maintain security and protect citizens nationwide.

This latest operation comes amid ongoing military offensives aimed at degrading insurgent strongholds in the North-East, as the Armed Forces intensify efforts to bring lasting peace to the region
