The Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Anthony Ikenga, has been honoured with the Most Outstanding Police Public Relations Officer of the Year 2025 Award at the Leadership Educational Summit 3.0, organised by the Youth Coalition for Education in Nigeria (YOCEN) in Abuja.

The award ceremony, themed “Education: A Panacea in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, was held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja. The summit brought together stakeholders from government, civil society, and the private sector to highlight the role of education in driving national development and advancing the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.

YOCEN described the award as a recognition of SP Ikenga’s “immense contributions to effective information dissemination, meritorious service to the Nigeria Police Force, and commitment to building a better society.”

Speaking shortly after receiving the award on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, SP Ikenga reaffirmed the Police Command’s commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for learning. He stressed that security remains a key enabler of quality education, gender equality, and sustainable development.

He further highlighted the Inspector-General of Police’s Safe School Initiative, describing it as a proactive measure to guarantee the safety of schools, students, teachers, and staff nationwide. Ikenga also pointed to community engagement programmes, such as the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), anti-crime patrols, and school sensitisation exercises, as vital tools in protecting vulnerable groups, especially children and young women.

The Anambra State Police Command expressed appreciation for the recognition and reiterated its resolve to strengthen collaboration with educational stakeholders across the country in pursuit of peace, justice, quality education, and sustainable development.
