Troops Storm Lakurawa Terrorist Camp in Sokoto, Neutralize Scores of Fighters, Recover Weapons

Troops of 8 Divisions, Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have stormed a Lakurawa terrorist camp in Waria Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing scores of terrorists and recovering two AK-47 rifles, two motorcycles and other equipment.

The operation, conducted on October 15, 2026, formed part of ongoing offensive operations by troops of CSI Battalion VII to clear terrorist enclaves and deny armed groups freedom of movement in the area.

According to report, the troops advanced into Waria Forest at about 7:00 a.m. and made contact with the terrorists at about 9:00 a.m. During the engagement, several terrorist were confirmed killed, while troops recovered two AK-47 rifles and two motorcycles.

The operation followed an earlier clearance mission in the Alela and Bilange forest areas on October 14, where troops encountered heavy enemy fire from hilltop positions while advancing towards terrorist camps.

The troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon a motorcycle before pursuing them to two camps in the forest. Both camps were cleared, and an additional motorcycle was recovered.

The troops subsequently destroyed structures within the camps to prevent their continued use as terrorist hideouts.

The military offensive is part of sustained efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist camps, disrupt their activities and strengthen security across Sokoto State and the wider North-West region.

Further clearance operations are expected to continue as troops intensify pressure on terrorist elements operating in the area.
