IGP Egbetokun Unveils Senior Police Officers Conference, Retreat in Abeokuta November 25-28

In his commitment to enhance professionalism through continual learning, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun has announced the upcoming Senior Police Officers Conference and Retreat scheduled to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State from November 25 to 28, 2024.

This event according to IGP Egbetokun will provide a vital platform for deep reflection, knowledge sharing, and strategic planning aided by senior officers of the rank of Commissioners of Police and above, as well as other strategic police managers.

"The retreat will enable us to evaluate our strengths, pinpoint areas for improvement, and realign our goals with the evolving needs of the Nigerian populace.

This gathering will be pivotal in preparing us for the challenges of 2025 and beyond, reinforcing our commitment to the modernization and ongoing reform of the Nigerian Police Force.

"Within the approach of the Ember Month, a time traditionally associated with heightened security challenges, the imperative for vigilance, enhanced feasibility, and proactive policing becomes even more critical.

"Criminal elements frequently exploit this season, necessitating our strategic foresight to stay ahead. Our approach should include increased patrols, intelligence-driven and community-oriented operations to ensure public safety throughout the holiday period.

It is crucial that we intensify our efforts to secure all areas, particularly urban and semi-urban centers, major highways, and to collaborate effectively with other security agencies and stakeholders to bolster security nationwide.

At this moment, I must stress the importance of esprit de corps, the spirit of camaraderie, teamwork, and shared purpose that binds us within our organization and with our colleagues across other agencies. It is essential for the successful execution of our duties that we honor and respect all colleagues and members of other services within the confines of the law.

"As I conclude, I reaffirm my confidence in the distinguishing officers before me today and the brave personnel on the field who confront criminal activities day and night. The Nigerian Police Force has grown stronger through our collective dedication, sacrifice, and resilience. Although the road ahead is laden with challenges, together we will overcome and continue to uphold our core values of integrity, service, and protection.

"Let us approach the future with renewed vigor and resolve, aware that the stability of Nigeria's security lies in our capable hands. Remember, our primary mission and the respect it commands hinge on our discipline. You are all tasked with ensuring that discipline remains a cornerstone of your leadership and management efforts.

"Together, let us rise to uphold justice, fairness, and human dignity. Our united strength and dedication will forge the Nigerian Police Force into a pillar of hope and security. I look forward to fruitful engagement with you as we commence this conference.
