Nigerian Navy at 68: CNS Emphasizes Importance of Teamwork, Conduct, Holds Interdenominational Church Service

 

The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla has charges all officers, ratings and civilian staff of the Nigerian Navy (NN) to continue serving with dedication, professionalism, and patriotism, while upholding the highest standards of conduct and teamwork.

Vice Admiral Ogalla gave this charge today,  24th May 2024 at an Interdenominational Church Service to mark the Nigerian Navy 68th Anniversary Celebration. The event which was attended by  dignitaries in public and private sector along with senior military and para-military officers took place Queen of Martyr Catholic Church Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja. 

The Naval Chief who was full of praises to God with special worship song admonished personnel to uphold the highest standards of discipline, teamwork, and dedication, and always conduct ourselves with honor and respect.

"As we celebrate our 68th anniversary, I charge you all to remain committed to our core values of professionalism, patriotism, and integrity. Let us continue to work together to protect our nation's maritime interests and ensure the safety and security of our citizens.

"Remember that our role is crucial to the economic growth and development of our country, and we must strive to excel in all we do.

The Naval Chief also announced that President Tinubu will commission 3 newly acquired ships and 2 helicopters as well as declare open the International Maritime Exhibition in which international and local maritime security related companies will show case their products and services. 

The Naval Chief also reiterated that under his leadership the fight against Crude Oil Theft has been a huge success under the auspices of OPERATION DELTA SANITY which was re-launched in January 2024 and in the 9 months of its existence, the operation has led to the arrest of various suspects and vessels involved in COT.

On personnel of the Nigerian Navy welfare, the Chief of Naval Staff reiterated his administration commitment to listening to keep an open door policy, listen to their concerns and ideas, and to working with them to address any challenges may may face. 

"As your Chief of Naval Staff, I assure you that your welfare is my top priority. I am committed to ensuring that you receive the best possible support and resources to excel in your duties and to improve your overall well-being. 

You can be assured that we will continue to work tirelessly to provide adequate housing and accommodation for you and your families and Improve your medical care and health services, enhance your career development and training opportunities, Support your families and loved ones through our various welfare programs, and ensure your safety and security while serving on deployments and operations

In his sermon, the Director Nigerian Navy (RC), Captain (Very Rev. Father Oparaji admonishes personnel encourage the spirit of teamwork, cooporation,  discipline which goes with sincerity and harwork, loyalty,  setting goals as family, prayerful, patriotism and readiness to make sacrifices for others. 

He described the Nigerian Navy week as a week to show the Nigerian Navy readiness and capacity,  a week to show the principle of of onward ever,  humanitarian outreach through medical services. 

He added that Navy week is a week to show patriotism among personnel,  to discharge duties and responsibilities. He drew lessons from the book of 28: 19-20 on the feats of the Holy Trinity. 

SpyeTV News reports that the Nigerian Navy 68TH Anniversary Celebrations 2024, scheduled to hold from Friday, 24 May – Saturday, 1 June 2024 in Lagos with the highpoint which is the flag-off of the Regional Maritime Exercise and the International Maritime Conference by the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who will also be the Special Guest of Honour.
