Operation FANSAN YAMMA Troops Rescue Six Kidnap Victims, Recover N800,000 In Katsina

Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered ₦800,000 allegedly taken from them by terrorists in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The troops also engaged terrorists in a separate operation in Kankara Local Government Area, forcing them to flee and recovering a motorcycle.

The Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a press statement on Sunday.

According to the statement, troops of Sector 2, while conducting a fighting patrol on August 22, 2026, responded swiftly to a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and abducted six occupants along the Dandume–Sheme Road.

The troops reportedly advanced to the area and made contact with the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower and compelling them to abandon their captives before fleeing into the surrounding bushes.

Following the operation, all six victims were rescued unharmed.

Troops also recovered ₦800,000 allegedly taken from the victims by the terrorists.

The recovered money and the victims’ vehicle were subsequently handed over to them in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.

In another operation on August 21, troops of Sector 2 encountered terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara Local Government Area.

The troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding bushes.

The fleeing elements were pursued, while subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of one motorcycle.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive patrols and offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and protecting lives and property across the North-West.

The Joint Task Force also appreciated the continued support of members of the public and urged communities to provide timely and credible information to security forces in support of ongoing operations.
