Troops of the 312 Artillery Regiment under the 1 Division Nigerian Army and Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected military impostor in Kaduna State as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the integrity of the Armed Forces and protect the public from fraudulent activities.
The suspect, identified as a civilian, was apprehended at about 9:50 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, by troops deployed at Strike Force Base Sabo. According to military sources, the individual was allegedly impersonating retired Major General AT Ibrahim at the time of his arrest.
Preliminary investigations into the incident are currently underway. Military authorities disclosed that the suspect would be handed over to the appropriate law enforcement agencies upon completion of initial inquiries for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to combating all forms of criminality, including impersonation and other unlawful acts capable of eroding public confidence in the military institution.
The Army also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report individuals falsely claiming military status without proper identification or authorization.
It assured citizens that decisive action would continue to be taken against anyone found exploiting the name, image, or reputation of the Armed Forces of Nigeria for illegal purposes.
The arrest underscores the military’s determination to protect its institutional credibility while ensuring that fraudsters do not take advantage of unsuspecting members of the public through false claims of military affiliation.
