OSMA Honors its Heritage: Courtesy Visit to Retired Major General Ishola William Ahead of AMGA 2024

 

Ahead of the 2nd Africa Military Games (AMGA) Abuja 2024, the President, Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), who also double as the Vice President CISM, Major General Maikano Abdullahi and the Director of Sports, Defence Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis today, 12 August, 2024 paid a courtesy visit to one of the founding fathers of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) Major General Ishola Williams (Retd) in Lagos.

The two senior officers paid a courtesy call on the Major General Ishola Williams (Retd) in Lagos to officially invite him to witness the 2nd Africa Military Games (AMGA) Abuja 2024, scheduled from 5 – 18 November 2024 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The visit according to General Abdullahi is accord the respect and admiration for Major General Ishola Williams' contributions to the Organization of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) and the upcoming Africa Military Games (AMGA) 2024.

It would be noted that OSMA was founded by Maj Gen Ishola Williams of Nigeria and Col Kalkaba Malboum of Cameroon. It is being adopted in 1994 at the 49th CISM General Assembly in Istanbul, Turkey. Its 1st General Assembly only took place on 25 March 2008, in Algiers, Algeria, under the high patronage of H.E. Abdelaziz Bouteflika President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. 

The Headquarters of OSMA is in YAOUNDE. Cameroon. 

SpyeTV News reports that the First AMGA was hosted by Kenya 24 years ago and 54 countries to participate in this year’s AMGA will generally promote Nigerian culture, show unity and other positive things about the country.

The benefits of the games to Nigeria include boosting the country’s economy, increasing tourism activities, infrastructural development, job creation, reducing depression and many other tangible and intangible gains.
