Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria Confers Fellowship on AVM Daramola, Maj Gen Fayemiwo, AVM Sayo Olatunde, 119 Other Members

The Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Chartered) today, conferred a Fellowship Award on 122 members, comprising 40 Female Fellow Designates and 82 Male Fellow Designates, The Institute also inducted 77 Associate members and 168 full members who met the professional requirements.

Amongst them were Seven Nigerian military senior personnel from the three services. They are, Major General Adetokunbo Fayemiwo Ade, Rear Admiral Olukoya Omotola Olutayo, the Chief of Accounts and Budget in the Nigerian Navy, Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola Olorunlomola, the Chief of Communication Information Systems NAF Headquarters Abuja, Air Vice Marshal Oahimire Oguega Pius, the Chief of Aircraft Engineering, NAF Headquarters, Abuja, Air Vice Marshal Sayo Olatunde, the Chief of Policy and Plans in the Nigerian Airforce, Air Vice Marshal Bukar Shani Abubakar, the Director of Finance NAF Headquarters, Abuja and Group Captain Emmanuel Abu Ndakinpa from Nigerian Airforce.

Speaking at the 2024 Conferment of Fellowship Status in Abuja, with the theme, "Resetting National Priorities: The Role of Strategic Management, President and Chairman-in-Council, ISMN (Chartered), Mr Alex Ndudi Enebeli said the awardees had been examined by the institute and found worthy to be conferred with the highest status of fellows of ISMN (Chartered).

He revealed that members of the institute deployed Strategies to achieve desired goals and future. He said the Institute is strategic management, though there is a collaboration with other management institutes, the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Chartered) emphasize leadership.

"Leadership has direction, view, and vision, so working through that vision and mobilizing people to achieve that goal is what makes a leader different from a manager. At this level, our members distinguish themselves because we mobilize resources, we think of our management and we take the managers and every member of our profession along. Strategy is for the upper class and is leadership not about the boss but about output. Up

Also addressing the media at the event, Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola Olorunlomola, the Chief of Communication Information Systems NAF Headquarters Abuja who is also one of the Institute Fellows designates said the new attainment is just another feather in the cap of capacity building effort as members of the armed forces and it's not limited to only the military personnel but the members of the Institute comes from all works of the society, governmental, non-government and public and private sector.

"The essence is to show forth all the tenets of strategic leadership of professionalism, research and development and all are aimed at ensuring that learning continues and there is the networking that is aimed at producing the result in the society and having an impact. Ultimately is to make Nigeria better.

"For those of us in the military, we are already Strategic leaders but being members of this institute would help us to add value to what they are doing and to increase our own body of knowledge and bring that to bear as we go ahead in continuing to add value to the service and ultimately to add enhance security of the nation for the peace and well being of Nigerians.

In her words the Chair, Board and Body of Fellows, Dr. Jummai Umar-Ajijola said beyond the induction, there are world-class acclaimed professionals, 122 of them that have been added to the body of professionals in the field of strategic management in the country.

"These people from different sectors of the economy, cutting across the public sector, private sector and civil society organisation, they operate at the highest levels of policy making and are governors in the organisation which means these 122 people will go out in the different States, in the different sectors and practice the profession while continuously learning from the institute. This is continuous learning and improvement, creating a new body of knowledge for the improvement of our country."

Also Speaking, one of the Institute Fellows designates Mrs Clara Braide, a Protocol Strategist, Head of Protocol Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) expressed happiness to be a part of the great Institute especially now that the government need the services of Strategists to take the country and to put the best foot of the country forward.

"I am elated to be part of this organisation, It is a noble organisation and we would try our best to formulate policies and strategies that would Nigeria to a greater and higher level."she said

The Annual Conference and AGM of the Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria which started with a Dinner party and the Investiture of Fellows, Members and Associate members today 24th January 2024, will end on Friday 26th January 2024.

SpyeTV News reports that, out of the 122 Fellows Designates, 54 designates are from the Institute while 68 are Direct from 14 Chapters. The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja has the highest number of Fellow Designates with a total number of 33, followed by Lagos State with a total number of 19. Rivers State has 17 Fellow Designates, Bayelsa has 9 Fellow Designates, Anambra has 7 Fellow Designates, Ekiti has 6 Fellow Designates, Delta has 5 Fellow Designates, while Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Enugu and Cross Rivers have 1 Fellow Designates each.

The Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria is a professional management association, which specializes in Strategic Management, Leadership, and Governance. Founded in 2003, the Institute is a non-government, non-profit, independent professional organization. They currently have over 25,000 members in Nigeria and Abroad.
