Operation Fansan Yamma Forces Lakurawa Terrorists to Flee, Recovers RPGs and Explosive Devices In Kebbi

Troops of the 8 Division operating under Sector 2 of Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY), have recorded a major operational success following a clearance operation against suspected Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State.

Military sources disclosed that the operation was conducted on June 14, 2026, around Dogon Daji in Dandi Local Government Area of the state. During the offensive, troops made contact with members of the Lakurawa terrorist group and engaged them in a fierce firefight.

The terrorists were overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the troops and were forced to flee the area in disarray.

Following the encounter, troops conducted pursuit and exploitation operations, leading to the recovery of several items abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. Recovered items included rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launch tubes, rocket-propelled grenades, several improvised bombs, two motorcycles used by the terrorists, a charger, and other personal belongings.

Military sources confirmed that no casualties were recorded among the troops during the operation.

The latest success is part of ongoing offensive operations by Operation Fansan Yamma aimed at dismantling terrorist and bandit networks across the North-West region. Troops have continued to sustain pressure on criminal elements, denying them freedom of action and disrupting their activities in the area.

Operations are ongoing.
