Nigerian Army's Core Value: Training, Says Deputy Military Secretary

 

The Deputy Military Secretary Army, Brigadier General Garba Mohammed has described training in the Nigerian Army as a core value and successes of any military operations.

General Mohammed who made this known in Abuja, during the closing ceremony of a 3-day exercise by the Guards Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non- Commissioned Officers Competition 2024 said the objectives of the competition was to test participants skills, physical fitness, discipline, dedication and readiness that defined the Guards Brigade.

The Special Guest of Honour, General Mohammed while commending the Commander Guards Brigade and his team for preparing and equipping participants to discharge their responsibilities efficiently, the Deputy Military Secretary charged participants to remain ready to face any challenges with confidence and resolve, stating that the roles of guards Brigade have been expanded to safe guiding the Federal Capital Territory and its environs.

He said th map reading exercise is to challenge soldiers mental alertness, the combat walk showcases their resilience,  the Drilling exercise instilled discipline and its the symbol of the strength and solidarity. He stressed that beyond the the ceremonial of the Mr President and the seat of power, the Guards Brigade has demonstrated commitment.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Commander Guards Brigade, Brigadier General Olusegun Onasanya  the competition was organized to improve the recipient's performance or to help an individual attain a required level of skills.

Brig.General Onasanya noted that training is a continuous process in the Nigerian Army and it brings out the best standard discipline, physical fitness, combat survival and team spirit among troops. The competition features map reading, skill at arms, drill and fifteen kilometers walk.

Five Units of the Guards Brigade participated in the Guards Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non- Commissioned Officers Competition 2024, they competed in Weapon Handling  Map Reading, Combat Walk, Drilling and Match pass.

At the end of the exercise,  7 Guards Battalion came 1st position with 390 marks, Guards Brigade Garrison took the 2nd position with 360 marks, 177 Guards Battalion  took the 3rd position with 330 marks, 176 Giards Battalion took the 4th position with 310 marks while 102 Guards Battalion took 5th position with 260 marks.
